The Exterminator (1980) Distributed in the UK by ALPHA FILMS LIMITED photo set

In the promotional material published for the movie by ALPHA FILMS LIMITED there are three sheets of black and white photos.

In one of the photos we see Robert Ginty (as Eastland) posing with a revolver and a submachine gun, this never happens in the movie. I´ve always wondered if it is from a deleted scene or only part of a set up for promotional purposes. It should be noted that there are several matching photos, used in press kits for the movie, as lobby cards in the movie theaters and on the VHS covers so it is safe to say that these photos were used heavily in promoting the movie. I have to admit that the nerd in me really want to know, have been wanting to know for many years now.

In another one of the photos we se the iconic image of a man in a biker helmet, combat fatigues, grenades attached to his vest and a flamethrower in his hands. This image, which is what first caught mine and many others attention when we saw it in adverts, on posters or on videocassette covers is strictly promotional material. Actually I don´t even think it is Robert Ginty in the photo, there is some brief use of a flamethrower in the movie but it looks nothing like that. This iconic photo was used on the movie posters worldwide and when seeing it I immediately come to think of The Exterminator (1980).

If your lying, I´ll be back...
