The Exterminator (1980) set of 7 Press Photos

These eight press photos were part of the marketing campaign intended for the press. A couple of the press photos have not been seen earlier and haven´t been used as lobby cards. Above we have a photo of John Eastland (Robert Ginty) armed to the teeth with a sub-machine gun, an assault rifle and a 44 Magnum revolver in a shoulder holster. It appears that this is not a complete set as the press photos are numbered and the last photo (Ginty with the young man) is numbered Ext-14, I hope to be able to locate more press photos from this set.

The Exterminator (1980) Set of 6 Black and white Photos from Lebanon marketing material

Not sure if these photos were intended to be used as promotional material in the movie theaters or for use in the Lebanese press. There are needle marks, there is quite a bit of patina so they have been on display sometime and somewhere. There is a censor stamp in the bottom edge of each photo.I n this set there are two photos not seen among the lobby cards set from West Germany, France and Lebanon. In the first photo Michael Jefferson (Steve James) comes to the rescue of John Eastland (Robert Ginty) who has been cornered by "The Ghetto Ghouls".

In preparation for his visit to the Chicken Place John Eastland (Robert Ginty) opens his cache of weapons, picking a 44 Magnum revolver for the job, he has already prepared special six revolver cartridges by drilling holes in the bullets and filling them with mercury.

The Exterminator (1980) Lebanese Lobby Card set

In this blog entry I´m sharing my set of lobby cards from Lebanon, there is a Lebanese Censor stamp on the bottom edge of each lobby card. I´m not sure if this set is complete. The lobby cards have noticeable patina, needle marks, creased corners and it is obvious that they have been used in movie theaters perhaps several times as there are several needle marks in the corners of the cards. Four of the six cards show pictures from the Vietnam footage. None of the images in this lobby card set have been used in the West German och French sets.  In the first  lobby card (above) we see Michael Jefferson (Steve James) coming to the rescue of John Eastland (Robert Ginty) who is being attacked by "The Ghetto Ghouls" after catching them stealing cases of beer. It is this that sets off a series of events that turns Eastland into a vigilante.

More american soldiers arrived the Viet Cong camp after Michael Jefferson (Steve James) has saved John Eastland (Robert Ginty) and killed the Viet Cong fighters. And then someone start mortaring the camp forcing the americans to make a hasty retreat.

An Army Helicopter lands to pick up the onrushing american soldiers, Michael Jefferson (Steve James) and another soldier help John Eastland (Robert Ginty) to the chopper.

The Exterminator (1980) The Movie Promotional Booklet published by The Interstate Corporation

As part of marketing The Exterminator in the USA writer director James Glickenhaus and producer Mark Buntzman put a four page full color Promotional Booklet in the entertainment trade magazine Variety. It consisted of pictures from the movie and almost no text. The advert resulted in a lot of interest from different distributors in the USA. Among the pictures are a few photos not seen in other promotional material for the movie. On the front and back cover we have pictures from the Vietnam footage, including the iconic image of a GI soldier being thrown into the air by a massive explosion. This image of the soldier was at the beginning intended to be key art of the marketing campaign but it was soon replaced by the flamethrower wielding man in a biker helmet.

In this blog entry I will be sharing my collection of Lobby Cards from France, half are identical to the Lobby Cards that can be found in the set used by Warner Bros in West Germany but there are also six new cards not seen in the West German Lobby Cards set.

The Exterminator (1980) Warner Bros Lobby Cards Set West Germany

In this blog entry I will share photos of my set of 11 West German lobby cards, unfortunately I´m not sure if this set is complete. I think this set of lobby cards have been used in theaters, the cards do show signs of old age and some of them have pin marks after having been on display.

The Exterminator (1980) West German NFP Nr. 7666 Filmprogram

This is a small german language booklet consisting of 4 pages published April 1981 in West Germany, the synopsis is similar to the ones published by Alpha Film Limited for the UK market and Warner Bros for Germany. This small program features 9 stills (two of which are identical) from the movie, on the front and back we have Eastland standing on a rooftop brandishing a sub machine gun. I have a theory concerning this image, which is part of a series of photos but I´ll get back to it in a later blog entry. There are also three stills which I´m not sure if I've ever seen before, the first is of Eastland being cornered by two thugs from "The Ghetto Ghouls", the second shows "The Ghetto Ghouls" partying and the third shows Dr. Megan Stewart (played by Samantha Eggar) with a hospitalized "Ghetto Ghoul" member.
